Monument, designed by Melbourne based architectural firm Wood/Marsh Architects, has become one of Sydney’s iconic landmark buildings.
Monument is the first Sydney project by Wood/Marsh. Revered for their bold and sculptural style, their buildings are edgy and unique. Winners of twenty-nine Royal Australian Institute of Architecture Awards for Excellence, including the 1998 and 2006 Victorian Architecture Medal, and the 1998 National Walter Burley Griffin Award for Urban Design, their work is universally acclaimed as architecture imbued with art.
Monument occupies an entire city block and accommodates 190 apartments over 16 levels with unique one, two and three bedroom designs in a mixture of single and double storey layouts. The apartments include floor-to-ceiling glass, generous balconies and/or decks, air conditioning, and spectacular city and/or harbour views. Digital free-to-air HD TV is available to all apartments. Residents may also subscribe to Foxtel iQ, ADSL2+ fast internet, or for very fast internet, a choice of the NBN or TPG using FTTB (fibre-to-the-basement) technology.
The lobby features a striking public artwork, Palette Line, by visual artist Matthew Johnson. A brightly lit narrow horizontal band of ever changing colours encircles the lobby, transforming an architectural interior into a mesmerising experience of observing light and colour.
Monument offers a high level of amenity for residents with features such as a concierge, a well-equipped gymnasium, heated outdoor swimming pool and beautifully landscaped gardens. The secure undercover car park for residents is spread over two levels, and the building is protected by a fully integrated security system.
Monument is only moments away from vibrant Darlinghurst and Surry Hills cafes, restaurants, shops and night spots, and is just 200 metres from Sydney’s famous Hyde Park. The area is well serviced by taxis and buses, and is within short walking distance of Museum train station and the Sydney CBD. The building incorporates the Oxford Village Shopping Centre, which houses a supermarket, commercial fitness centre, bank, dentist, bottle shop, and various other businesses.
